Stark Varg FAQ › Chain and drivetrain

How do I adjust chain tension?

Target: 45 mm, for sand — 50 mm. Measure from the swingarm to the chain right behind the slider, bike on a stand. Less than that and the chain goes tight as a string when the swingarm compresses; from the factory the chain is sometimes too tight.

Don't confuse this with 25–32 mm — that's the slack of the chain itself, not the distance from the swingarm.

Mayak Lab makes a chain tension gauge for the Stark.

How to adjust: loosen the rear axle (torque 80 N·m) — you can't adjust without it, set it with the adjusters, tighten the axle.

The chain slider on the swingarm is usually a KTM one with an adapter.
